Björk vs. Göransson for the title

Reigning champion Richard Göransson has taken over the leading chase of championship leader Thed Björk. Göransson gained on Björk during the last race at Gelleråsen.
“I think he showed signs of insecurity at Gelleråsen. He qualified poorly and made obvious mistakes during the race,” said Göransson to STCC.se.

Björk on the other hand thinks that Göransson does a classic mistake of underestimating his opponents.

“We had problems with our setup at Gelleråsen, it is as simple as that. I think that Göransson is doing a classic error of underestimating his opponents, that is really dangerous to do,” said Björk.

Björk and Göransson both drove for WestCoast Racing in 2005 when Göransson took the title and Björk finished second.

This year though Björk is fighting against Göransson again, but with the team Flash Engineering instead while Göransson is back at WestCoast Racing.

“First and firmost I think we are going to win this due to one reason. Coolness and co operation. Göransson and Robin (Rudholm) are competing more within the team that what I and Jan (Nilsson) does, and you cannot do this alone,” said Björk.

Göransson on the other hand is more than committed to re-take the title.

“In this situation you do not have any friends among the drivers,” said Göransson.
