Göransson wins ahead of Björk

Reigning champion Richard Göransson won the first race of the day at Knutstorp as pole man Robert Dahlgren had to retire.
“It was my goal to win the race and it worked. But I expected a fight with Dahlgren,” said Göransson.

Dahlgren held the lead and pulled away during the first couple of laps. But after a safety car restart, the gearbox of the Volvo C30 broke and Dahlgren had to retire.

Championship leader Thed Björk took advantage of this and secured second place.
“The race was more or less perfect for us and it was especially nice to be on the podium with my team mate,” said Björk.

Jan “Flash” Nilsson managed to squeeze past Björk’s main championship rival Tommy Rustad in the first corner and secured third.
“My mission was to get past Rustad and that worked like a charm,” said “Flash”.

Rustad was gaining on “Flash” at the end, but could not get close enough. The Norwegian had to settle for fourth and lost three points on Björk in the championship.

Robin Rudholm finished fifth after having to fight his way back up through the mid field. The WestCoast Racing driver had a small clash with SEAT driver Roger Eriksson in the start that resulted in a puncture for Eriksson.

Rudholm could continue but lost a couple of places that he rather nicely could retake as the race progressed.

Johan Stureson claimed sixth ahead of the impressive privateer championship leader Viktor Hallrup in seventh. Patrik Olsson finished eight and is going to start from pole in the second race.
