Volvo gets back 10 team points
The Volvo team got ten points removed in the team championship of the STCC after the incident between their driver Robert Dahlgren and rival driver Thed Björk. But those points have now been given back.
“Those points should never have been removed, they must have been removed by mistake,” said Johnny Haraldsson, technical director of STCC, to TouringCarTimes.
Dahlgren got ten points removed in the drivers championship due to the incident between him and Björk at Knutstorp.
It was then assumed, as the team championship points are based on the drivers championship points, that ten points would be removed in the team championship as well.
“One could think that. But this penalty was an individual one for Dahlgren and not the team,” said Haraldsson.
The regained points puts the team back in the fight for the team championship titile. Volvo are in third position, ten points from second placed WestCoast Racing and 15 points from the leading team Flash Engineering, with 36 still left to fight for.
