Robin Rudholm takes final pole of 2009
Robin Rudholm claimed the final pole position ahead of the two championship rivals Tommy Rustad, second, and Thed Björk, third.
“It was really good. The Volvo is a qualifying rocket and it was not much to do about Dahlgren. Rustad though I am surprised that he was not able to beat us,” said Rudholm to STCC.se.
What Rudholm means regarding Dahlgren is that he was fastest in the final qualifying session, but is moved back ten places on the grid to eleventh due to his two yellow cards due to unfair driving.
“I got to practice overtaking at Knutstorp, so it is just pedal to the metal,” said Dahlgren.
Dahlgren made a mistake during the first qualifying session and planted his Volvo C30 deep in the gravel trap in the “Mjölby-corner”. The team were able to get it out in time for the second qualifying session.
Title competitors Rudstad and Björk made it exciting for the first race as they are going to start side by side.
“I have a very good position for the first race, it is going to be very exciting and it is now or never,” said Björk.
Reigning champion Richard Göransson took fourth position on the grid ahead of Mattias Andersson and Jan “Flash” Nilsson.
Fredrik Ekblom in the Biogas.se prepared Volkswagen Scirocco took seventh position ahead of Pontus Mörth and Tomas Engström. Roger Eriksson took the final position of top ten.
