Chevrolet aim for two cars in 2010

The Swedish Chevrolet team is hoping to expand their team to two cars in the Swedish Touring Car Championship 2010.
“We are looking at many different scenarios, but we are working on two cars, it is a clear advantage to have,” said team boss Nicklas Karlsson to the official championship site.

The turns have been many around the Chevrolet team. The team stated this season with Thomas Schie at the wheel.

But after the fourth race the Norwegian was replaced by Pontus Mörth. The deal was ended due to financial reasons.

“It was not an optimal solution, we had the conditions to succeed, but it did not turn out well,” said Karlsson.

The team hopes get a new Chevrolet Cruze next year, but it could also become a second Chevrolet Lacetti.

“It could be a Lacetti, a Cruze or any of those two models. The main thing is that you have a lot of advantage to run two cars in the STCC, something we can see with the two big BMW teams and Volvo.

We have got it as a vision, but it is a hard work to succeed,” said Karlsson.

The driver line up is far from finished yet. But the team hints that Mörth could remain.

“Pontus took a step forward and showed that he was just as strong as we thought and he is for sure interesting. But we have four serious proposals from drivers that we are working on,” said Karlsson.

The team has got one year left of their three year contract with GM and Chevrolet.
