Dahlgren tops Gelleråsen morning session
Robert Dahlgren topped the morning session of the first official test session for the Swedish Touring Car Championship at Gelleråsen. The Volvo-man lapped the track in 1:07.683.
“We got going quickly and I am pleased with the first half of the test,” said Dahlgren.
Second fastest, one thousand of a second behind, was BMW-driver Thed Björk.
“The car is really good to day, but it is a bit early to say where we really are compared to the others,” said Björk.
Björk was followed by his team mate Jan “Flash” Nilsson in third and rival BMW-driver Richard Göransson in fourth.
Mattias Andersson was fifth, right ahead of reigning champion and Polestar Racing-driver Tommy Rustad in sixth.
There was drama in the pit during the first part of the session as the Ekström Junior Team SEAT Léon of Roger Eriksson caught fire. Fuel had leaked down on to the exhaust and caused a small fire on the rear bumper that was put out quickly.
“The cockpit started to get filled with smoke and I understood there was something on fire. I contacted the pits and told them to be ready with a fire extinguisher, otherwise we would have no car for the premiere,” said Eriksson to STCC.se.
Stay tuned for the second session of the day!
