Volvo happy with dominant season start
Volvo took command of the Swedish Touring Car Championship season start with two wins. Tommy Rustad won the first race and Robert Dahlgren the second.
“It was a cracking start to the season! Rustad did an amazing first race and managed to keep the competitors behind him, lap after lap,” said team boss Christian Dahl.
While Dahlgren crossed the line as second in the second race, Robert Schlünssen, who was ahead of him, is not taking part in the STCC.
“It has been great fun and we are very happy to deliver this to the team and Volvo that has spent a lot of time during the pre-season,” said Dahlgren.
Rustad’s pole position was Volvo’s 12th straight pole position in the STCC, three years of pole positions.
Dahlgren currently heads the STCC standings with 10 points ahead of Johan Stureson. Team mate Rustad is third, a further 5 points behind, due to his retirement in race two after a collision with Flash Engineering-team mates Thed Björk and Jan “Flash” Nilsson.
