Mixed fortunes for BMW drivers in Denmark
The BMW-drivers had mixed fortunes in the Swedish Touring Car Championship premiere. Johan Stureson had the best weekend and is currently second in the championship.
“I can’t complain on this opening round. I thought it was going to be much thougher for us and I am looking forward to Knutstorp now,” said Stureson.
Richard Göransson is fourth in the championship after having a poor second race, but a good first race where he was fighting for the lead and finished third.
“It is an okay result from the first weekend. We could have been much higher in the championship, but at least we are in it from the start,” said Göransson.
Thed Björk is the third best BMW-driver after the premiere in sixth place of the championship. The Flash Engineering-driver was hit by Mattias Andersson in the first race and was able to get back up in to fourth in the second race.
“The car was great, but unfortunately Andersson destroyed my chances. All in all it was no good premiere for us, but we are going to be back at Knutstorp,” said Björk.
Björk’s team mate Jan “Flash” Nilsson had an even worse weekend, scoring just one point. “Flash” had a poor qualifying, starting 16th for the first race and retired the second race after being hit by Rustad who in his turn suffered from a broken suspension.
