Göransson wins Knutstorp race one
Richard Göransson won the first race of the weekend at Knutstorp. The WestCoast Racing won the race ahead of Robert Dahlgren and Patrik Olsson.
“It was crazy difficult on the very slippery track. But I am more than pleased with my win,” said Göransson.
Pole position man Thed Björk took the start and held it until the first safety car session.
Reigning champion Tommy Rustad clashed with Jan “Flash” Nilsson, resulting in the Volvo-driver spinning off in to the barriers, totaling his Volvo C30.
As the safety car was out, both Flash Engineering cars decided to gamble and pit for wets. But the decision was far from correct, the light rain never increased and the two BMW-drivers finished 10th and 12th.
Göransson was never threatened in the lead while Dahlgren had to defend from SEAT-driver Roger Eriksson. But Eriksson later received a drive through-penalty for overtaking under yellow flags and dropped to seventh.
Fredrik Ekblom finished fourth ahead of Dick Sahlén and Viktor Hallrup. Mattias Andersson claimed eight and is going to start on pole in the second race.
