Third race of the year – Karlskoga preview

The Swedish Touring Car Championship heads to Karlskoga this weekend for the third race of the year. All eyes are on the two top title contenders, Robert Dahlgren and Richard Göransson. The both have pulled away in the championship with second placed Göransson being 25 points ahead of third placed Mattias Andersson.

Dahlgren currently heads the championship with 76 points, some 12 points ahead of Göransson. Last time the STCC visited Karlskoga Dahlgren won the race with Göransson fifth.

There are many drivers chasing the leading duo. Reigning champion and Dahlgren’s team mate Tommy Rustad has had a dreadful start to the season, with one win and three retired races. The Norwegian is ninth in the championship on 25 points.

The same goes for last year’s runner up, Thed Björk. The Flash Engineering driver is seventh in the championship and out for revenge this weekend after the tyre choice fiasco at Knutstorp two weeks ago.

The weights ahead of this race are more or less unchanged from Knutstorp. The BMW 320si top the weight list, 11 kilos more than the Volvo C30.

The weather could once more play a trick as rain showers are predicted for saturday at Karlskoga. Follow all the action from the weekend at TouringCarTimes.com!
