Ekblom secures first ever bio-gas win

Fredrik Ekblom secured the first ever bio-gas victory in the Swedish Touring Car Championship. The Volkswagen driver led the race from start to finish ahead of Robert Dahlgren.
“It has been a tough ride for the team. We finally got something back for the hard work we have done, first pole and now a victory. Very nice,” said Ekblom.

The action was thick behind the leading duo. Tommy Rustad held third initially but was caught up by Thed Björk. The BMW-rival made a move in the first corner after some light contact, something Rustad replied on for the second corner, resulting in Björk spinning off the track and retired.

Rustad was penalized after the race with 30 seconds because of the incident and dropped from fourth to ninth.

Björk’s team mate Jan “Flash” Nilsson was behind Rustad after the incident and passed the Volvo-driver a couple of corners later.
“I have to say that I am not that pleased. The car did not work as well as I hoped for, we are going to work on that for the second race,” said “Flash”.

Mattias Andersson secured fourth ahead of Patrik Olsson. Richard Göransson dropped a couple of places in the start, but was able to fight back and finish sixth in the end.

Johan Stureson claimed seventh ahead of Dick Sahlén who is going to start from pole position in the second race.
