Win number 33 for Jan “Flash” Nilsson
Jan “Flash” Nilsson won the second Swedish Touring Car Championship race at Karlskoga and extended his STCC victory record to 33.
“This race went just according to plan and I am so happy. As for the victory record, Göransson was second to 31, 32 and 33 – he is going to be second to 34 as well,” said “Flash”.
“Flash” started sixth but fought his way up in to lead after two strong passes on Richard Göransson and Dick Sahlén.
Sahlén fought hard to keep second, but managed to stay ahead despite many tries from Göransson.
“I was a bit slower than the guys behind me on some parts of the track, but I fought harder there and it lasted until the end. I am very pleased,” said Sahlén.
Göransson crossed the line in fourth, but was moved up to third after the race. Thed Björk stormed from last position on the grid to take fourth with just a couple of laps left, passing among other Göransson on the way.
Björk made contact with Göransson on his way past to third and the stewards penalized Björk with 0.5 seconds for unfair driving, moving him to fourth.
Mattias Andersson finished fifth ahead of the two Volkswagen’s of Fredrik Ekblom and Patrik Olsson.
Robert Dahlgren had a bleak race and finished eight ahead of Johan Stureson and his team mate Tommy Rustad.
