BMW top Scandinavian weight list for Gothenburg
The two different BMW 320si E90 models tops the weight list for the Scandinavian Touring Car Cup race in Gothenburg. The bio-ethanol five-speed sequential gearbox BMW, used by Danish teams, is going to weigh 1215 kilos.
The BMW’s with h-patterned gearbox is going to weigh 1210 kilos in Gothenburg, 11 kilos more than the Volvo C30 which was the fastest model during the Scandinavian premiere at Jyllandsringen in Denmark in april.
The Swedish Touring Car Championship and Danish Touring Car Championship are joined together in Gothenburg again, meaning that the weight is calculated for both championships on the first race at Jyllandsringen, excluding the other rounds.
This means for example that the Volkswagen Scirocco is going to weigh 1170 kilos for Gothenburg. But if the Gothenburg round would not have been included in the Scandinavian championship, the Scirocco would have weighed 1200 kilos as it was fastest of all during the previous STCC race at Karlskoga when Fredrik Ekblom won.

Details
A total of ten parameters are used for each car model in the calculation of time differences between the car models:
1 – Fastest laptime in qualifying
2 – Second car’s fastest laptime in qualifying
3 – Fastest laptime in the first race
4 – Second fastest laptime in the first race
5 – Second fastest car’s fastest laptime in the first race
6 – Second fastest car’s second fastest laptime in the first race
7 – Fastest laptime in the second race
8 – Second fastest laptime in the second race
9 – Second fastest car’s fastest laptime in the second race
10 – Second fastest car’s second fastest laptime in the second race
If a car model is only represented with one driver, parameters 2, 5, 6, 9 and 10 are not used.
The difference value produced by this calculation then sets the weights for each individual car model. A maximum of 40 kilos can be added and a maximum of 20 kilos can be subtracted.
