BMW and Volkswagen top weight list for Jyllandsringen

The BMW 320si with H-pattern gearbox and the new S2000 specification Volkswagen Scirocco heads the weight list for the Scandinavian Touring Car Cup at Jyllandsringen.

The weights are calculated on the two previous Scandinavian races at Jyllandsringen and Gothenburg. The S2000 Volkswagen is on maximum weight as it never before has raced in the Scandinavian Cup.

The two other models on maximum weight, +40 kilos, is the Volvo C30 and the BMW 320si as they were +0.1 and +0.2 tenths behind the fastest car of the first two races respectively.

Fastest car so far is the Chevrolet Lacetti of Jan Magnussen. The Dane made an impressive debut with the car in Gothenburg, qualifying a very close second to the Volvo C30 of Robert Dahlgren. This means that the Lacetti gets +40 kilos, giving a total of 1205 kilos.

This is in bright contrast to the newer Chevrolet Cruze of Viktor Hallrup that is going to weigh 1145 kilos, a difference of 60 kilos. The Chevrolet Team Sweden-prepared Cruze was 1.7 seconds slower compared to the Lacetti of Perfection Racing.

Details

A total of ten parameters are used for each car model in the calculation of time differences between the car models:

1 – Fastest laptime in qualifying
2 – Second car’s fastest laptime in qualifying
3 – Fastest laptime in the first race
4 – Second fastest laptime in the first race
5 – Second fastest car’s fastest laptime in the first race
6 – Second fastest car’s second fastest laptime in the first race
7 – Fastest laptime in the second race
8 – Second fastest laptime in the second race
9 – Second fastest car’s fastest laptime in the second race
10 – Second fastest car’s second fastest laptime in the second race

If a car model is only represented with one driver, parameters 2, 5, 6, 9 and 10 are not used.

The difference value produced by this calculation then sets the weights for each individual car model. A maximum of 40 kilos can be added and a maximum of 20 kilos can be subtracted.
