James Thompson to make Scandinavian debut

James Thompson is going to take part in the race at Jyllandsringen this weekend, making his debut in the Scandinavian Touring Car Cup. The Brit is not going to drive his own car because of the big crash at Ring Djursland.
“James’ car is still being repaired, for the third week, as it was damaged enough. So we put him in the car of Wolfgang,” said team owner Hans Hartmann.

Thompson is going to drive the Honda Accord that Wolfgang Treml drove for the team in ETCC and most recently at Ring Djursland.

“It is of course a shame for Wolfgang, who has performed well, but unfortunately there is nothing to do about it in this situation,” said Hartmann.

Thompson managed to escape unhurt from the big accident three weeks ago and is according to Hartmann Honda Racing ready to fight again.

“He is ready, he says that the other drivers needs to be beaten,” said Hartmann.

The Honda Accord Thompson is going to drive this weekend is older compared to the one he crashed at Ring Djursland.

“The challenge is in that the car is a bit heaver, but we have worked on that. The only real difference is that the car is a bit older, the specifications are the same. We had the car in Austria [ETCC] and Wolfgang was recorded for a higher top speed on the track compared to James,” said Hartmann.

The team is aiming to be in the very top of the Scandinavian championship at Jyllandsringen this weekend.

“One thing is for sure, we are not going to the race to be second. James set a new lap record at Djursland. We are ready, we have a reasonable weight of the car and full power from the engine, we will take it from there,” said Hartmann.
