“A perfect weekend” for Richard Göransson
Richard Göransson described the race weekend in Denmark as perfect with one victory and one second place.
“It is really rather sick, we did our best weekend so far this year both in speed and points. We took the chance when we needed and this is perfect ahead of Knutstorp,” said Göransson.
Göransson managed to get past title rival Robert Dahlgren with just three corners left of the first race in brave maneuver.
And Dahlgren had no chance to follow Göransson in the second race, finishing seventh overall and third of the STCC-drivers while Göransson finished second.
“We had a perfect weekend, extended championship lead, 43 points and the victory record,” said Göransson.
With the victory in the first race, Göransson became the most victorious STCC-driver ever with 34 victories, demoting Jan “Flash” Nilsson to second.
The BMW-driver extended the championship lead to 17 points over Volvo-man Dahlgren. The championship battle resumes at Knutstorp in a little less than two weeks.
