BMW tops weight list for Scandinavian final
The BMW’s are on top once again on the weight list for the final Scandinavian race of the year, held at Knutstorp in the south of Sweden. The BMW 320si with five-speed sequential gearbox heads the list on 1225 kilos, 15 kilos more than the same model but with five-speed H-box.
The BMW with H-box has been fastest together with the Volvo C30 in the previous three Scandinavian races at Jyllandsringen, twice, and Gothenburg. Closest to them is the Chevrolet Lacetti of Jan Magnussen, just one tenth behind.
For the race at Knutstorp this weekend, Magnussen is going to weigh in at 1180 kilos with his Lacetti, five kilos more than the Honda Accord of James Thompson and Hans Hartmann.
The two different versions of the Volkswagen Scirocco has lost weight ahead of this race, both will have a weight set at 1170 kilos.
New to the list is the Mercedes C-Class, set to make its first appearance of the season in the hands of Tony Johansson. As this is the first time for the car in the series this year, it has been awarded with maximum weight and will weigh in at 1190 kilos.
Another change is that the Opel Astra of Viktor Huggare has converted the engine to bio-ethanol and because of that gets 6 kilos removed from the weight, making the total to 1114 kilos. Huggare switched from the independents class to the main STCC class this year, but has so far failed to score any points.

Details
A total of ten parameters are used for each car model in the calculation of time differences between the car models:
1 – Fastest laptime in qualifying
2 – Second car’s fastest laptime in qualifying
3 – Fastest laptime in the first race
4 – Second fastest laptime in the first race
5 – Second fastest car’s fastest laptime in the first race
6 – Second fastest car’s second fastest laptime in the first race
7 – Fastest laptime in the second race
8 – Second fastest laptime in the second race
9 – Second fastest car’s fastest laptime in the second race
10 – Second fastest car’s second fastest laptime in the second race
If a car model is only represented with one driver, parameters 2, 5, 6, 9 and 10 are not used.
The difference value produced by this calculation then sets the weights for each individual car model. A maximum of 40 kilos can be added and a maximum of 20 kilos can be subtracted.
