Hard fight for Scandinavian title at Knutstorp

Two championships are in a hot fight as the Scandinavian championship heads to Knutstorp in the south of Sweden. Richard Göransson and Robert Dahlgren are both the main candinates for the Swedish Touring Car Championship as well as the Scandinavian Cup.

While Göransson heads Dahlgren in the Swedish championship, it is the other way around in the Scandinavian championship.

The fight should be extra intense this weekend as Dahlgren is out for revenge after the victory to Göransson on the final lap of the first race at Jyllandsringen two weeks ago.

But Göransson is set to fight back hard at Knutstorp, a track that suits both the Volvo and the BMW, but where Göransson has got the record in most number of victories.

But the two main title runners are not alone in the hunt for victories. Six Danish drivers are expected to turn up with Jan Magnussen, Robert Schlünssen, who is third in the Scandinavian cup, and Casper Elgaard sure to mix it right up in the top.

The strongest candidates of all for the victory should be the Volkswagen Scirocco’s of Fredrik Ekblom, still with a shot for the STCC title, and Patrik Olsson. The duo is light on weight, 1150 kilos, for this race and the Volkswagen has proven to be very hard to beat when light.

Not to forget are the two Flash Engineering BMW’s of Thed Björk and Jan “Flash” Nilsson. Björk had pole position last time STCC visited the track and won the previous race at Jyllandsringen, rocketing him up from seventh to fourth in the championship.
