Jim Beam Racing confirms 2011 driver line-up
Jim Beam Racing confirms Steven Johnson will stay with the DJR family team in 2011, staying alongside championship leader James Courtney.
Steven Johnson will stay on for his 12th full season for his father’s squad after a difficult season where he currently sits 12th in the standings, whilst team-mate James Courtney leads the championship by 179 points from reigning two-time champion Jamie Whincup.
Johnson was rumoured to have been looking at other options for next year, but in the end has signed on with his home team.
“While we haven’t caught too many breaks on the track this season, the team is working really well and I’m still enjoying driving,” said Johnson.
“I’m really happy that we’ve been able to come to this arrangement.”
Team co-owner Charlie Schwerkolt is happy with Steven’s decision.
“Steve is fast, reliable and a great addition to Jim Beam Racing,” said Schwerkolt.
“We are really happy to be moving forward with our current line-up of Steve and James and we couldn’t be happier with how things are travelling for us at the moment.”
