Dahlgren boosted by Scandinavian title for STCC finale

Robert Dahlgren secured the Scandinavian Touring Cup title at Knutstorp last weekend, a title he says boosts his confidence ahead of the Swedish Touring Car Championship finale at Mantorp next weekend.
“It feels awesome. My goal is to become historic, I was the first to take the first Scandinavian title and I want to be the last to take the Swedish title,” said Dahlgren.

The Swedish and Danish Touring Car Championships are closed down for next year and becomes the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship instead.

But the fight for the final Swedish title is far from over. Dahlgren is currently five points ahead of Richard Göransson and 18 points ahead of Fredrik Ekblom with 50 points left to fight for.

“Five points is nothing, but it can of course be very much decisive in the end,” said Dahlgren.

Dahlgren tested along with the rest of the STCC field at Mantorp Park yesterday, the very track for the final race of the year. But Dahlgren was off pace, eight tenths from Ekblom, who was fastest of the day.

If the team is just “sand bagging” ahead of the finale remains to be seen, but Dahlgren described the test as “messy” on his webpage.
