STCC responds to Volkswagen criticism
The STCC organization has responded on the criticism from Volkswagen on the reduction of turbo boost ahead of the STCC finale. The Volkswagen team claimed that they had been stripped of the chance to compete on equal conditions as their competitors.
“I would rather say that the other competitors have got the chance to compete on equal conditions,” said Bob Huzell, STCC MD.
“The cars of Team Biogas.se has been too quick in a straight line and has had too much power and that is the problem we have addressed on the way that is most effective and easy to do,” Huzell continued.
The team stated that they were surprised by a very late decision, something the STCC organization says is not the case.
“We notified them on september the 21st via the STCC technical bureau that a decision was going to be made on the subject. We communicated for a long time that we are concerned on their straight line speed, especially at Mantorp with the very long straight there,” said Huzell.
The Biogas.se team also criticized the STCC organization for only taking the very top end speed of their cars and not the overall lap performance.
“We have used our own simulation program, we have used data from Volkswagem Motorsport, we have brought two external consults with expertise on the area – all analysis show the same thing – Volkswagen has had an unreasonable power advantage,” said Johnny Harladsson, STCC technical director.
