Andersson wins as Dahlgren closes in on title

Mattias Andersson made the most of his pole position and won the first race of the Swedish Touring Car Championship finale at Mantorp Park.
“I am really pleased, I had a great car in this race,” said Andersson.

Robert Dahlgren crossed the line as second and took an important step towards the title as he had title rivals Fredrik Ekblom, third, and Richard Göransson, fourth, behind him.

Göransson was initially third and put hard pressure on Dahlgren. But the BMW-driver made a mistake coming out of the chicane to the long straight, enabling Ekblom to get past. Göransson tried hard to get back but was not close enough.

Thed Björk, who started second, was involved in the top fight at the start of the race. The BMW-driver was closing in on Andersson in the lead when he got a drive through-penalty for a faulty start. Björk seemed to miss the start and was fourth in to the first corner.

Patrik Olsson was fifth over the finish line ahead of Tommy Rustad and Viktor Hallrup. Johan Kristoffersson took eight position and claimed pole position for the second race.
