Plato under Brands lap record in second practice

Jason Plato went below the lap record for touring cars in the second free practice session at Brands Hatch. His team mate Alex MacDowall followed closely in second, just nine thousands of a second behind.

Rob Collard was best non-Chevrolet driver in third, 0.086 seconds behind plato, with rival BMW-driver Steven Kane in fourth.

Gordon Shedden, who was second fastest in the first session, was fifth fastest in this, 0.015 seconds ahead of Tom Onslow-Cole.

The session was halted briefly as Shaun Hollamby planted his Volkswagen Golf in the gravel at Paddock Hill Bend. The session was resumed with 15 minutes left.

James Thompson showed improved form in the NGTC Toyota Avensis, posting the 17th fastest time, 0.969 seconds behind Plato.

Ben, “The Stig”, Collins never managed to set a time in the session as he spent almost the entire session in the pits with gearbox problems.
