Complete statistics of STCC 2010

Almost two months have passed since the Swedish Touring Car Championship 2010 ended. Richard Göransson claimed the title in a thrilling finale ahead of Robert Dahlgren. TouringCarTimes has gathered statistics for the season showing another story compared to the championship table.

Victories

Four drivers share the top spot of the most number of victories. Champion Göransson, second placed Dahlgren, third placed Fredrik Ekblom and previous champion Tommy Rustad.

Second places

Dahlgren is superior in the number of second places with double the number as his closest opponent. Göransson and Patrik Olsson are closest with three compared to Dahlgren’s six.

Third places

Göransson heads the number of third places, right ahead of Volkswagen-driver Ekblom.

Podium finishes

Despite the most number of podium finishes, eleven, it was not enough for Dahlgren to beat Göransson, who had ten podiums. While Dahlgren claimed more top positions, Göransson was more consistent during the season. Dahlgren for example had two DNF’s while Göransson finished all 18 races.

Pole positions

In bright contrast to previous season, Dahlgren is not alone in the top the pole position rankings. Dahlgren shares the top spot with Ekblom, both with three pole positions.

Q2 – Top ten

Three drivers, Göransson, Dahlgren and Rustad, were alone on making it to all second qualifying sessions, Q2. Thed Björk and Ekblom were closest with just one missed session.

Qualifying average top ten

Dahlgren is still king of the qualifying average. The Volvo-driver heads the table on an average starting position of 2,0. Björk throws in a surprise with the second best qualifying average, despite being far from the title battle through out the season this year.

Q1-average top ten

The qualifying average for the first qualifying session differs compared to the second qualifying session. While Dahlgren matches the statistics in both Q1 and Q2, the story is different for his team mate Rustad.

Rustad has an average of 2,9 in Q1, second best overall, while he is unable to match it for Q2 where he drops to 4,2.

Average finishing position top ten

Dahlgren is once again on top of the list. The Volvo-driver finished third on average this season, beating Göransson with almost one position. But Dahlgren did not score enough points for the title as he failed to score in two races.

Overtaking maneuvers

Double champion Jan “Flash” Nilsson gained most positions during the races of this season. “Flash” overtook three cars on average in each race. But it was to little help for the BMW-driver who retired failed to finish in five races.

Rustad is on the other end of the list, dropping over one place per race on average compared to his grid position.

Despite the bleak statistics for Volvo-man Rustad in the previous category, the Volvo-team, Polestar Racing, tops the number of victories. Rustad and team mate Dahlgren both scored three victories each, making the total of six victories for the team, double the number of their closest opponents, Flash Engineering, WestCoast Racing and Biogas.se.

Penalties/Warnings

Rustad keeps the top spot of the penalty/warning list, as he did on the half season point. The Norwegian was alone to receive four penalties during the season. Champion Göransson came close to matching Rustad after getting three penalties in the final half of the season.
