“Flash” turns 50 and confirms STCC 2011 drive

Double STCC-champion Jan “Flash” Nilsson turned 50 years today and confirmed that he is going to continue racing in the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship next year.
“I’m more motivated than ever to take part in the STCC. The past season was a disappointment in many ways, but that works as a good motor for my lust of revenge for 2011,” said “Flash”.

“Flash” has taken part in all STCC seasons since the championship started in 1996. The now 50-year-old Swede was behind the start of the championship.
“It has been and still is a great journey. Despite the fact that it takes a lot of work to run the team, drive and all of my other assignments, I do not regret anything. It is all about my instinct of competing, no matter if it is to have the best team, be first over the line or have the best championship,” said “Flash”.

“Flash” is going to continue driving a BMW 320si E90 in the STCC next year, but his team mate has not been set yet.
“It might be Thed Björk again, but we are negotiating with a couple of other drivers, and they are not Swedish,” said “Flash”.

The Flash Engineering-driver is hoping to fight in the top next year in his 16th STCC season.
“I firmly believe that STCC 2011 is going to be the best season since 2005 when I was both racing STCC and Carrera Cup. I am aiming to be among the top three next year, just as for the team championship. We have been able to get the resources for next year to focus a lot more on the actual racing and to win, that is what its all about,” said “Flash”.

Flash Engineering celebrated “Flash” on his birthday with a guest drive in the Porsche Supercup race during the Formula One weekend at Nürburgring in july 2011.
“I am very much looking forward to that. I have fond memories from when I was racing in Carrera Cup Scandinavia back in 2005. It is going to be great fun and a great challenge,” said “Flash”.
