The STCC faces multimillion tax hit

The STCC organization faces a tax hit of close to two million Swedish kronor (200 000 euro). The series sponsors are, according to STCC AB, the ones who are going to pay.
“They knew the conditions, there is nothing strange about it,” said STCC MD Bob Huzell to Aftonbladet.

STCC AB did not pay any commercial taxes during 2008 and 2009 for a total of 20.6 million Swedish kronor of sold adverts on racing cars, flags, promotional material and more.

The Swedish Tax Agency upgrades the tax for STCC AB with 1.6 million kronor and adds 330 000 kronor extra in tax as the Tax Agency regards the errors made by STCC AB as not reasonable.
“Our sponsors have mainly bought TV-commercials, which are not up for tax. Our lawyers and experts judge our chances as good for the next authority,” said Huzell.

The extra tax hit is not a problem for the 2011 season according to the STCC AB.
“We did not claim the commercial tax from our sponsors when we wrote the contracts. Instead we included that if the Tax Agency claims that tax, the sponsors are going to be responsible for it,” said Huzell.
