First pictures from WTCC/STCC test in Spain

The four teams from the FIA World Touring Car Championship and Scandinavian Touring Car Championship has completed the first day of testing in Spain. James Thompson, Rickard Rydell, Yvan Muller, Rob Huff and a driver from Hong Kong were out on the track.

Thompson did his first ever laps in the Volvo C30 and was reported to be happy with the progress so far.

STCC rival Rydell completed many laps in the normally aspirated Chevrolet Cruze, along with fellow Chevrolet drivers Muller and Huff in the 1.6 turbo engined Chevrolet Cruze.

The WTCC duo completed many laps despite some technical difficulties with the new world engine.

SUNRED Engineering were present with one SEAT León for a yet to be named young driver from Hong Kong. Gabriele Tarquini is reported to be set for driving the car tomorrow.

Another driver set for driving tomorrow is WTCC Volvo driver Robert Dahlgren. The Volvo team is present with two cars, one car for Dahlgren and one for Thompson. Dahlgren’s C30 is set to be equipped with a 1.6 litre turbo engine later during the season, development work has begun on the engine but it has not yet hit the dyno, according to reports.
