BTCC teams testing at Brands Hatch
Motorbase, Arena & Pirtek Racing have been testing at Brands Hatch today, with Motorbase also showing off their new livery for 2011.
Motorbase Performance, which has switched to the Ford Focus ST for this season, has been testing the NGTC-engine powered car with drivers Mat Jackson & Liam Griffin. The team, now known as Airwaves Racing, is running in a high coloured red & yellow livery – the same colours team principal David Bartrum used to race with in production saloon car racing in the late nineties.
Arena were also present, with Tom Chilton testing the 2010 Focus, which will soon be handed over to Motorbase as a potential third car. Arena’s former driver Tom Onslow-Cole is present in the Motorbase team’s garage at the test, fuelling speculation the 23-year old driver might be joining the team alongside Jackson & Griffin.
Former West Surrey Racing driver Andy Neate is also with the Arena Motorsport team at the test, with rumours circulating that the 36-year old has signed a deal to switch to the 2010 independents’ championship winning team for the 2011 season.
Pirtek Racing drivers Jeff Smith & Andrew Jordan are also testing the Vauxhall Vectra with the Swindon Racing Engines NGTC engine.
