Andrew Jordan leads shortened first practice
Andrew Jordan repeated his testing pace from the media day test to top the timesheets at Brands Hatch in the first free practice session. The Team Eurotech driver was just ahead of reigning champion Jason Plato.
The session was cut short after Honda Racing Team driver Gordon Shedden crashed out with a puncture at Paddock Hill bend, soon after setting the third fastest time.
As a result the session was cut short to 30 minutes from the scheduled 40 minutes.
Chevrolet’s Jason Plato was second fastest, with his first flying lap just 0.031s down on Jordan, showing there’s more pace to come from the 2010 WTCC-spec Chevrolet Cruze.
Tom Boardman ran well, finishing in fourth place in the Special Tuning Racing SEAT, with Matt Neal rounding out the top five.
Andy Neate had a restricted run of just seven laps in the session in the all new Ford Focus of Arena Motorsport, whilst Frank Wrathall only had a chance to do a shakedown run in the Dynojet Racing Toyota Avensis.
Dave Pinkney’s Audi A4, which has frantically been worked on all morning by the Rob Austin Racing team, didn’t take part in the session.
