Fredrik Ekblom hunts Scandinavian gold
Volkswagen driver Fredrik Ekblom has got his sights set firmly on the title of the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship 2011.
“I had a small shot at the title last year. For this year I want nothing else but a really god shot at the title,” said Ekblom.
The 40-year-old Swede finished third in the championship last year, behind champion Richard Göransson. And Göransson ranks fellow Örebro inhabitant Ekblom as his toughest competitor for the title this year.
“It is of course flattering and nice to hear. It is no good finishing second in a championship. If I cannot win this year, I’ll probably have to move from Örebro,” said Ekblom with a laugh.
Ekblom was consistent last year, but lacked the capacity to be in the top for all races in order to fight for the title. This is something Ekblom hopes has changed for this season after a tough pre-season program.
“We have done a lot of testing and we have learned a lot. We have got a strong package and I hope for a strong first race at Jyllandsringen,” said Ekblom.
