Victory for Stureson ahead of Turkington

Johan Stureson won the second race of the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship premiere at Jyllandsringen. The IPS Motorsport-driver won the race ahead of fellow BMW driver Colin Turkington.
“This is just perfect. I had a tough first race in bright contrast to this race, I had a clean pass on Andersson and was able to control the race,” said Stureson.

Mattias Andersson held the lead initially but was overtaken by Stureson not far in to the race. Turkington was the next man to fight with Andersson and the Flash Engineering driver got past with five laps left.

“I really enjoyed today. It was my goal to collect strong points from the first weekend and I must say it is a good start of the season,” said Turkington.

Andersson had to give way for Roger Eriksson in the SEAT León, ultimately dropping down to fourth.

Rickard Rydell finished fifth after a race-long duel with the two Volvo drivers James Thompson and Tommy Rustad. Ironically the fight got to an end when Rustad misjudged his braking, going straight in to the side of his team mate Thompson.

Thompson spun and dropped down to eight while Rydell continued and Rustad was penalized with a lap of the penalty round.

Jan “Flash” Nilsson follwed Rydell past the two Volvo drivers and finished sixth ahead of Martin Öhlin.

Champion Göransson did not start the race, stay tuned for further information on the subject.
