Jason Watt hopes for full season after victory

Jason Watt won the season opener of the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship at Jyllandsringen in Denmark. The Dane now hopes for the success to convince his sponsors to extend his season.
“As I crossed the line, my first thought was that I am going to call my sponsors,” said Watt at the post-race press conference.

The original plan for Watt was to only do selected STCC races, both Jyllandsringen and Knutstorp races, this year due to a limited budget.

Watt qualified fourth on the grid ahead of the STCC premiere, 0.121 seconds from pole, and managed to get past both Volvo-drivers in the first race and inherited the lead as Göransson crashed.

“I lacked some speed on the straights, but the car was great in the corners. It was an awesome feeling to cross the line first as I only had hoped for a top three finish before the race,” said Watt.

The Dane is going to be on the grid for the next STCC race at Knutstorp on the 7th of may, while it remains to be seen if he is going to be at Mantorp on the 20th of may.
