No replacement for Richard Göransson
WestCoast Racing has decided not to appoint a replacement driver for the injured Richard Göransson.
“We are choosing to park Richards car until he is ready to return,” said Dick Jönsson-Wigroth, WestCoast Racing Team Principal.
The team is instead going to focus on the sole car for team mate Martin Öhlin and preparations for the return of Göransson.
“We are doing this for three reasons. First of all in respect for Richard. The number one belongs to him and no one else. We do not think that there is any driver able to replace him at this moment,” said Jönsson-Wigroth.
“Secondly, the priority for WestCoast Racing is to give the best possible conditions for our drivers and we do not feel that we could provide that for a replacement driver right now. Finally, we want to give Öhlin all the support possible in his debut season.”
WestCoast Racing is going to be present for the second STCC race of the year at Knutstorp with one BMW 320si for Martin Öhlin.
