Stureson aims to keep championship lead
Johan Stureson pulled out a surprise in the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship premiere two weeks ago by winning one of the races and claiming the championship lead. The BMW driver is aiming to keep the lead as STCC heads to his home track Knutstorp this weekend.
“Home track, my fans and being in the championship lead. It feels really good,” said Stureson.
Stureson switched from Peugeot to BMW last year and had a tough first season with the rear-wheel driven car from Munich. The IPS Motorsport driver finished tenth in the championship, a position he is determined to improve this year.
“The championship is really tough this year. But my ambition is to score as much points possible, defend my championship lead this weekend and hopefully stay in the top fight for the rest of the season,” said Stureson.
With the strong performance of Stureson and fellow BMW drivers, such as Colin Turkington, at Jyllandsringen, the IPS Motorsport driver is running on maximum ballast weight and is facing a tough mission this weekend.
