Thompson and Turkington targets Scandinavian points
Former BTCC champions James Thompson and Colin Turkington targets a solid points haul as the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship commences at Knutstorp this weekend.
“We lost some points in Denmark because of incidents in the races. At this stage of the season it is all about consistently accumulating points, that is where my focus is for this weekend,” said Thompson.
Thompson is sixth in the championship while Turkington is fourth after finishing second in the final race of the premiere weekend in Denmark.
“We had a strong start of the season in Denmark and the goal is to continue in the same style this weekend,” said Turkington.
Thompson struggled in the official pre-season test at Knutstorp earlier this year and is cautious in his expectations ahead of this weekend.
“I have only done one test at Knutstorp so far and it is still a learning process for me. But things are working really well in the team and I know that I have got the conditions to be in the top this weekend,” said Thompson.
While Thompson struggled in the Knutstorp test, Turkington was second fastest and says that he likes the track.
“Knutstorp is the track that I know best of the Scandinavian tracks and the car worked really well during the test here earlier this spring. I am looking forward to the race weekend and I am hoping for strong results both for me and Jan [Nilsson],” said Turkington.
