Andersson wins ahead of Stureson and Turkington

Mattias Andersson made most of his reversed grid pole position and won the second Scandinavian Touring Car Championship race at Knutstorp.
“I am really pleased with this victory, our start to the season has been fantastic so far,” said Andersson.

Championship leader Johan Stureson scored a controversial second place in the race after pushing Martin Öhlin out of third in the race. The IPS Motorsport driver improved third to second position on the final lap with a clean pass on Colin Turkington.
“I got on the inside of Martin [Öhlin] and he turned in on me and spun. I am over the moon with the results from this weekend and being able to extend the championship lead,” said Stureson.

Flash Engineering driver Turkington scored his second podium finish of the season and moved up to second in the championship.
“We have collected good results this weekend and the thing that I really am pleased with is how the car works, it is completely fantastic,” said Turkington.

Patrik Olsson crossed the line in fourth ahead of a disappointed Tommy Rustad. The Volvo driver fought for a podium finish earlier in the race but made an over-optimistic overtaking attempt on Öhlin, resulting in Rustad going off track and dropping three positions.

Race one winner Fredrik Ekblom was unable to make ground in the second race and finished sixth ahead of Jan “Flash” Nilsson. Leading privateer driver Andreas Ebbesson finished a strong eighth ahead of Jason Watt. Martin Öhlin recovered from his spin to finish tenth ahead of a struggling James Thompson.

Rickard Rydell had to retire from the race due to suspension damage after contact with Tomas Engström.

STCC continues at Mantorp Park in two weeks.
