Volkswagen optimistic despite 60 extra kilos
The Volkswagen Team Biogas.se are heading to Mantorp Park for the third STCC race of the year with optimism despite carrying 60 kilos more compared to the previous race at Knutstorp.
“Full speed ahead, we are going to continue pushing and gathering points,” said driver Patrik Olsson.
The team is going to be present during the official STCC test at Mantorp Park on thursday, an important test according to Team Principal Tommy Kristoffersson.
“It suits us really well with an official test on thursday. It gives us an opportunity to drive the cars with the extra weight that we have received after our success in the previous round,” said Kristoffersson.
Biogas.se drivers Fredrik Ekblom and Olsson carried the same weight for the season finale of 2010 at Mantorp Park when Ekblom finished third and eight in the two races.
“I do think we can perform better this time. We have worked hard on the things we were struggling with then,” said Ekblom.
Mantorp Park features the longest straight of the STCC season and the raw power of the turbo charged CNG Volkswagen engine is going to help Ekblom and Olsson.
“Mantorp suits us well. The combination of the low drag of the Scirocco and the many straights of the track is favorable for us,” said Ekblom.
