Ekblom shocked by being on pole position

Fredrik Ekblom was not expecting to be on pole position for the third Scandinavian Touring Car Championship weekend.
“I am almost a bit shocked that we managed to pull this off. But just like at Knutstorp, the team gave me a great opportunity to set the best lap time just when we needed it,” said Ekblom.

The Volkswagen Scirocco is running maximum ballast weight, +40 kilos, at Mantorp Park this weekend after the success during the previous race at Knutstorp where Ekblom claimed pole and a win in the first race.

“Mantorp Park suits our cars and if it is somewhere we should be competitive with heavy cars, it is here,” said Ekblom.

Team mate Patrik Olsson qualified fifth and was also aware of the penalty weight.

“I was a bit worried ahead of the qualifying due to the weight of the car. But we had a good qualifying session and I am pleased,” said Olsson.
