Engström happy to be on fourth on the grid

Tomas Engström pulled out a surprise by qualifying fourth for the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship race at Mantorp Park.
“This is really good and a real boost for the team that we have been able to get back from the setbacks of the season start,” said Engström.

Engström was just 0.236 seconds from Fredrik Ekblom, beating drivers such as Patrik Olsson and Colin Turkington.

“The goal is of course always pole position, but we are happy with the result. The positive thing of it all is that the car responds really well on the changes we make,” said Engström.

The downside of fourth on the grid is that Engström is going to get the outside line for the first corner. But the Honda driver is nonetheless aiming for a podium finish.

“To reach a podium would be awesome. But at the same time, we are without points so far and it would be great to score some,” said Engström.

After the dreadful start of the Honda driver, Engström is on minimum ballast weight for this weekend, 95 kilos less compared to championship leader and BMW driver Johan Stureson.
