Fredrik Ekblom on pole again at Mantorp Park

Fredrik Ekblom secured his second straight pole position of the season at Mantorp Park today. The Volkswagen driver beat Rickard Rydell with 0.015 seconds and Tommy Rustad with 0.081 seconds in a close to three.

Tomas Engström continued to impress by taking fourth on the grid with his old but light Honda Accord.

Patrik Olsson secured fifth on the grid ahead of Mattias Andersson, 0.267 and 0.396 seconds behind the pole time respectively.

BMW drivers Martin Öhlin and Colin Turkington were the final drivers in the second qualifying session, with championship leader and fellow BMW driver Johan Stureson just outside Q2 in ninth.

Alx Danielsson was the last man to make it in to top ten, just half a second from the fastest time in Q1.

James Thompson struggled in qualifying and only managed 14th fastest time, despite being fastest in the final practice session earlier today. Jan “Flash” Nilsson was another driver struggling. The BMW driver suffered from a broken throttle cable and pulled off track after just one lap.
