Stureson optimistic despite zero points

Johan Stureson lost the championship lead after failing to score any points in the third round of the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship. Despite the drop to fourth in the championship, Stureson is optimistic.
“I am of course disappointed. But I have got the speed, so it is going to be an interesting season,” said Stureson.

The weekend started with the team being forced to change engine after technical problems during testing.
“The build-up for the weekend was not ideal for us, but the team did a great job getting the car together,” said Stureson.

The first race saw Stureson climbing as high as fifth after starting ninth on the grid. But the race ended with just one and a half laps left as Stureson severely damaged his BMW in a fight for seventh Tommy Rustad.
“There were a couple of tough duels, especially the one with Rustad. He turned in on me when I was alongside him with a big bang. Really sad keeping in mind all the points I had coming and the reversed grid pole for the second race,” said Stureson.

The IPS Motorsport driver fought hard with fellow BMW drivers Martin Öhlin and Colin Turkington in the second race. Stureson lost out on tenth and the final point with just one corner left as Turkington got past.
“The three of us could have gained more positions, but we fought too much with each other, instead of challenging those ahead of us,” said Stureson.
