Andersson fastest in first Gothenburg test

Mattias Andersson was fastest of the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship drivers in the first test session at Gothenburg City Race Arena. The Alfa Romeo driver lapped the track in 47.304, one tenth faster than championship leader Tommy Rustad.

While the day started with heavy rainfall, the track had dried up for the test session.

Volkswagen driver Fredrik Ekblom was third fastest ahead of top BMW man in the form of Colin Turkington, 0.279 seconds from the fastest time of the session.

Turkington headed four BMW drivers with Johan Stureson in fifth, Jan “Flash” Nilsson in sixth and returning champion Richard Göransson in seventh.

Rickard Rydell, Patrik Olsson and Tomas Engström rounded off top ten, with double BTCC champion James Thompson in 11th.

The session was briefly halted as privateer SEAT driver Tobias Johansson touched the barriers but was able to return to the pits with minor injuries to his SEAT León. Testing resumes at 18.15 CET.
