New territory for Rydell in Gothenburg

Rickard Rydell faces a track he never before has seen this weekend as STCC heads to Gothenburg City Race Arena.
“The track is completely new territory for me. I have never driven around the track and in addition to that, we never test here,” said Rydell.

The Chevrolet driver is hoping to carry the strong form from Mantorp Park.
“The car worked really well at Mantorp and also in the test at Falkenberg last week. We are going to have to wait and see where we stand, we have got one hour and 45 minutes to try and find a good setup during the friday practice,” said Rydell.

While the track is new to Rydell, street tracks is not something new for the 1998 BTCC champion who has raced and won at Macau GP in the past.
“You have to be really precise here to be fast. The secret is to just touch the barriers, but if the margins get just a fraction too small, the weekend could be over,” said Rydell.

Rydell is currently second in the standings, on equal points with Fredrik Ekblom, five points from the championship lead.
“I have got a good feeling and I really think that this could be the turning point of my season,” said Rydell.
