James Thompson pleased with step forward

James Thompson says that the Volvo Polestar Racing team has taken a step forward with the C30. The Brit qualified second, just 14 thousands of a second from pole and finished third in the first race.
“Credit to the team, the car was really strong this weekend and it is much more to my liking,” said Thompson to TouringCarTimes.

The Brit jumped to fifth in the championship but says that it is too early to talk about his chances to advance further in the order.
“The short term goal is a strong weekend in Falkenberg and with a good result there, we could have an interesting base for the rest of the season,” said Thompson.

After a strong start to the season at Jyllandsringen, Thompson had a tough couple of races at Knutstorp and Mantorp, struggling with getting to grips with the Volvo C30.
“We are getting there but there is still work to do. But I am pleased with the results from this weekend, it was a nice revenge from the two past races,” said Thompson.
