Rustad and Ekblom closely matched in Falkenberg test

Tommy Rustad and Fredrik Ekblom were closely matched in the morning test session at Falkenberg. The Volvo-man lapped the track in 45.797, just 0.014 seconds ahead of Ekblom.

Rustad’s team mate, James Thompson, completed top three, just shy of three tenths slower than the fastest time of the session.

Jan “Flash” Nilsson was the fastest BMW driver in fourth, 0.327 seconds behind Rustad, with championship leader Rickard Rydell in fifth.

Richard Göransson claimed sixth fastest time ahead of rival BMW drivers Johan Stureson and Colin Turkington.

A total of 16 cars took part in the test session, which was held in sunny and hot conditions. The session was halted once when Ekblom’s Volkswagen Scirocco stopped on track, just after exiting the pits, due to what seemed to be engine problems.
