Fredrik Ekblom: “I am incredibly happy”

Fredrik Ekblom secured the drivers championship lead as well as the teams championship lead for Volkswagen Team Biogas.se after the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship races in Falkenberg.
“I am incredibly happy to enter the summer break as leader, both as Team Biogas.se and as driver,” said Ekblom.

The Volkswagen driver secured pole position, just 0.063 seconds ahead of Rickard Rydell, for the first race and went on to secure his third victory of the year.

“The first race went very well and the base to the victory was laid already during qualifying on friday,” said Ekblom.

Despite not being able to gain any position from his eighth on the grid for the second race, Ekblom past Rydell in the drivers championship and heads the standings with three points.

“I was not able to do much more in the second race, I got in to a gang with the other top drivers and had to adjust my speed. Eighth is not something I am pleased with, but my competitors did on the other hand not finish that much better,” said Ekblom.

STCC returns at Karlskoga in five weeks, a track where Ekblom secured a dominant pole and victory last year.

“We are in a positive trend and the whole team is doing a great job and we are really pleased,” said Tommy Kristoffersson, Team Principal of Team Biogas.se.
