Ekblom beats Rustad in afternoon session

Fredrik Ekblom climbed on top of the time list of the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship test session at Karlskoga. The Volkswagen driver beat Tommy Rustad, who topped the first session, with 0.130 seconds.

Ekblom’s team mate Patrik Olsson made it two Volkswagen’s in the top three, 0.202 seconds behind.

Title challenger Rickard Rydell claimed fourth fastest time ahead of best BMW driver in the form of Jan “Flash” Nilsson. The Flash Engineering driver beat reigning champion Richard Göransson and rival BMW driver Richard Göransson with just four thousands of a second.

Third and final Volkswagen driver Johan Kristoffersson claimed seventh fastest time ahead of Mattias Andersson.

World Touring Car Championship drivers Colin Turkington and Gabriele Tarquini rounded off top ten, Turkington being 0.524 seconds from the fastest time and Tarquini 0.693.

The STCC weekend at Karlskoga continues tomorrow with a second test session and qualifying after that.
