First pole since 2008 for Richard Göransson
Richard Göransson claimed his first pole position since 2008 in the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship qualifying session at Karlskoga today.
“This feels pretty awesome. I felt that we had something coming, I was even so relaxed that I fell asleep in the car between Q1 and Q2,” said Göransson.
The reigning champion beat Tommy Rustad with 0.023 seconds and championship leader Fredrik Ekblom with 0.080 seconds in a close qualifying session.
Johan Kristoffersson, who also races in the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia this weekend, claimed fourth on the grid ahead of Rickard Rydell and Patrik Olsson.
Mattias Andersson and Colin Turkington were the final men in to the second qualifying session.
Johan Stureson, currently placed fourth in the championship, was first driver outside the top eight, while Martin Öhlin rounded off top ten.
Gabriele Tarquini qualified 12th in his first ever STCC qualifying session, 0.444 seconds from the fastest time of Q1.
