Volkswagen ready to fight for important points

Volkswagen are optimistic ahead of the STCC races at Jyllandsringen this weekend, despite a struggling two first races of the year at this track.
“We are going to Jylland to try and keep our top position and fight for podium places,” said championship leader Fredrik Ekblom.

The season premiere at Jyllandsringen saw Volkswagen leaving with just two points. In order to not repeat the disastrous performance, the team headed straight to the Danish track after the previous race at Karlskoga for some testing.

“As we didn’t get a lot out from the premiere, this test was important for us. We learned a lot that for sure is going to be useful this weekend. But we are humble ahead of the challenge, we don’t really know where we are compared to our competitors at Jyllandsringen today and we haven’t got the same demands on our selves as we had ahead of Karlskoga,” said team boss Tommy Kristoffersson.

Ekblom qualified 14th at Jyllandsringen last time but is aiming higher for the races this weekend.

“I think we can get it right this time. It will perhaps not be enough for pole position or the front row, but we should definitely be able to fight for the positions right behind,” said Ekblom.

Volkswagen Team Biogas.se is just as in the last race going to field a third Scirocco for Johan Kristoffersson alongside Ekblom and Patrik Olsson.
