Fabrizio Giovanardi enjoys Scandinavian success
Fabrizio Giovanardi notched up a fine victory in the second Scandinavian Touring Car Championship race at Jyllandsringen and the Italian paid tribute to Hartmann Racing.
“It was a really good day for us. I am happy for the team, they worked hard and I am proud over a team that is so passionate,” said Giovanardi.
Hartmann Racing had a tough job after qualifying with Giovanardi 13th on the grid due to an engine misfire.
“We had trouble during qualifying and I had to start from the back of the grid. In the end we made a good job, we changed the setup completely from the first race to the second,” said Giovanardi.
The Italian finished eighth in the first race, securing pole position for the second race. Giovanardi held the lead from start to finish despite hard pressure from Alfa Romeo driver Mattias Andersson.
“Mattias put me under hard pressure. It took a while before the tyres got warm and I had to be careful. It was a great race,” said Giovanardi.
Giovanardi enjoyed the competition of the STCC field and ranks the championship high.
“It is a tough championship as I am driving against drivers that I have fought in the past like Tarquini, Rustad and more,” said Giovanardi.
Whether Giovanardi and Hartmann Racing is going to be back for the STCC races at Knutstorp in Sweden on the 10th of September remains to be seen.
“You have to ask him [team boss Hans Hartmann], he is the boss,” said Giovanardi with a laugh.
